I tend to enjoy trying weird food, especially if it comes in the form of a Puebla-style taco. Because, you know, I really love tacos. Of all kinds.
Well, one of my new favorite Mexican restaurants in Louisville, Ky., is a Mexican restaurant called El Mariachi, and they have the best selection of weird tacos I’ve seen around here. They’ve got the classics, like el pastor, pollo, carnitas and the like, and each order comes with a side of pickled onions and a sliced radish.
My new love at El Mariachi are the tacos de tripa, which basically is a beef intestines taco. Sounds gross, right? Man, I dig ’em. Can’t help it. You can also get cabeza (cow head) and lengua (beef tongue) in a taco there.
Sound tasty? Gross? Whatever, you can get all the gory details in this week’s The Taste Bud, courtesy of my good friends over at LEO Weekly. Enjoy!
